Weekend Review: 2 Days, 3 Events

Between Who’s Number One, Fight 2 Win, and the IBJJF Orlando Gi and No-Gi Open Atos athletes stayed busy. Here’s a review of the weekend.

Who’s Number One

Who’s Number One is Flograppling’s flagship professional jiu-jitsu event. They aim at curating a handful of the most relevant top ten match ups to find out who is number one, just as the name suggests. Length of match time is agreed upon by the fighters, some matches are fiffteen minutes, other are thirty, but they are all submission only.

At this weekend’s event event Rafaela Guedes took on Maggie Grindatti of Fight Sports and brought home a rear naked choke submission victory. Previously ranked number six the win boosted Rafaela in the rankings. Now, she is ranked number three in Flograppling’s women’s 145+ pound rankings for no-gi. And she’s still just less than a year in her black belt career!

After the match the women demonstrated the epitome of sportsmanship exchanging hugs and showing mutual respect.

Fight 2 Win

Fight 2 Win has been around for a while. They became the premier super fight, submission only promotion in recent years. Recently, they started hosting all women’s shows to highlight both up and coming and already established talent from the women’s divisions.

Atos went 2-0 at last weekend’s all female Fight2Win. Atos teen, Jadeya Reber, secured an armbar victory, while multiple time World Champion, Luiza Monteiro, took her victory by way of kneebar.
