Submission Only Series is a no-gi, sub-only tournament with EBI overtime rules. Each round consists of an 8 minute regulation period. If no submission occurs within regulation, the match goes to EBI overtime. Last weekend’s event hosted a 165-pound division giving blue and purple belt men the chance to earn $1500. Atos competitor, Daniel Sathler, was able to get that accomplished in less than two minutes.
Yep, you read that right. Daniel Sathler destroyed a 16-man bracket in less than two minutes to take home $1500.
In just one minute and 20 seconds of grappling he showcased his diverse repertoire of submissions. He made quick work of his first match. He attacked the legs immediately off a swift kiss of the dragon entry, getting a knee bar in just 10 seconds. His second match was just about as quick as he opted for a berimbolo to the back and got the tap with an RNC/neck crank. In the semi-finals he hit a straight ankle lock, and in his finals match, his inversions led him to the arm bar.
Daniel left know doubt that he deserved the $1500 cash prize.
