Atos Ladies Go 4-0 in Miami

Atos ladies make a statement in Miami. Baby Shark makes her debut, colored belts take home submission of the night and fight of the night, and the squad brings home two new titles.

New addition to the Atos HQ squad, Sophia Magana, was first up on the card. She made quick work of her opponent claiming victory in less than two minutes. The arm bar also earned Sophia Submission of the Night for the blue belt matches. Not to mention, Sophia was jet-setting over the weekend. She secured victories at Submission Hunter Pro earlier in the week, and Submission on the Shores the day after leaving Miami.

Sarah Galva, aka “Baby Shark”, stepped onto the Fight 2 Win mats for the first time to represent at their first ever, women’s only card, in Miami, Florida. In classic Atos style she imposed overwhelming pressure, opening up a couple of arm lock submission attempts. She wasn’t able to score the submission, but she forced her opponent to defend for the entire match. At the bell there was no doubt, Baby Shark won by unanimous decision.

Brown belt, Stefanie Kopacz, was also on the card representing Atos Atlanta. She was able to showcase all aspects of her game in her no-gi title match. The fast paced match was constantly back and forth. Stefanie was relentless in her attacks for the duration of the match earning the F2W Welterweight no-gi strap by way of unanimous decision.

Break out athlete, Rafaela Guedes, claims another title.

Rafaela Guedes, dubbed “the next big thing” by Flograppling, took the stage as the main event in Fight 2 Win’s female-only card. Guedes claimed double gold and Pans and topped the open weight podium at No-Gi Pans, helping her break into the top 10 black belt rankings just a couple of months into her black belt career. On Friday she continued her ascent taking on her most decorated opponent yet, 4-time World Champion Ana Carolina Vieira.

Now, it was far from an easy match. Game sees game. It was evident that Rafaela and Ana respect each other’s jiu-jitsu. But, their belief in their ability to win prevailed lending to an action packed match. Vieira is known for her relentless top game, and fearless take downs. But, Atos’ breakout star was able to stuff the take down attempt early in their match, and secure top position in closed guard. Rafaela even scored a couple slams in the scramble.

Both women had a couple of submission attempts. But, Rafaela’s cringe-worthy toe-hold attempts, take downs, positional dominance, and quick reversals and escapes proved to be more threatening. Rafaela Guedes became the new 155 pound no-gi F2W champ by unanimous decision.
