Josh Hinger and Jonnatas Gracie Claim Wins at Fight 2 Win 170

Atos athlete’s, Josh Hinger and Jonnatas Gracie, brought home big wins at Fight 2 Win 170 in Dallas.

Josh Hinger Secures the Belt at Fight 2 Win 170

Josh is a Fight 2 Win veteran. Last weekend he made his debut in the gi with a shot at the Masters title against Rafael “Formiga” Barbosa. The pair created mutual respect when they fought in December at Master Worlds where Josh was victorious. However, because they already met Josh prepared himself for a more difficult match. He told Flograppling, “It’s a big more difficult to beat someone again. They’ve learned about your game. They’ve learned about your moves.”

Privy to Formiga’s ability to force opponent’s into his butterfly guard game, Josh was prepared to shut it down with pressure, just like he did the first time around. Formiga was able to establish his butterfly hooks early on. Josh demonstrated the patience, persistence, and (most importantly) pressure to work his way to mount. Josh wishes he had more submission attempts during the match. But, with a legendary opponent, like Formiga, you can’t give any space. Sometimes unrelenting pressure is what it takes to win.

Josh Hinger earned the Masters Middleweight strap by unanimous decision in the main event of Fight 2 Win 170.

Jonnatas Gracie Remains Undefeated at Fight 2 Win

Jonnatas Gracie improves his black belt Fight 2 Win record to 3-0 with a win over Matheus Luna at Fight 2 Win 170.  While some matches require patience and persistence, this match required precision and a readiness for anything. Jonnatas showcased his ability to control the match from his guard. However, he also implemented a willingness to open up his game, create action, and retaliate with lethal submissions.

Having fought the Luna brothers multiple times Jonnatas knew he was in for an exciting match. Plus, it’s sub-only so anything can happen. Athletes are often times more willing to go for broke because there is no scoreboard. The match started with an early guard pull from Jonnatas. Matheus jumped for a triangle off of a single leg attempt by Jonnatas. But, as soon as Jonnatas escaped it was over. Jonnatas immediately dove for an armlock maintained an unrelenting pace for the rest of the match.

With two significant armlock attempts Jonnatas earned a unanimous decision victory. The match also earned Fight of the Night.
